Mommy blogz go away

Sunday, June 22, 2008

I have a bad tendency on certain days (not all) to thumbdown mommy sites and mommy blogs and blogs that are bent on telling everything about a family complete with pictures. Stalkers welcome mat is what I'm thinking.....pedophiles, serial killers, thieves and general riffraff.

I wonder how much is too much and if I'm doing that myself. I do not post pictures of my family or friends. It's not a thing I would do without their express permission and even then, I would feel that maybe I'm doing something wrong. Putting my own face out there is one thing, but do I want the responsibility of putting someone else (especially loved ones) at risk for the evilness in the world. Umm, no. If they choose it, let it be on their shoulders. And the information I've let loose on the wild, wild web about myself.....well that's my responsibility. I've only myself to blame if it goes bad.

But then again, the flipside of the coin. That's one of the best things about getting on the electronic highway--getting to know people you would never know otherwise. The opportunity to find the only other person or two that loves the weird little hobby that is near and dear to your heart is hard to pass by when it comes your way. And just the general "talking across the fence" that used to happen everyday in the long ago neighborhoods of non-violence. That again is possible on the internet. That's quite an attraction.

So I wonder about people who blog and tell all the correct specifics. Are you not putting yourself and your family in great danger? And I also wonder why all of them are so pretty and perfect and nice.... guess the real families who have everyday issues and just plain crap happening in their lives don't have access to the internet. Or maybe those families do have issues and everything just gets prettied up for the blog. Who knows?! I do know that I just get to a point at times that I'm sick of looking at mommy blogs (and yes there are plenty daddy blogs too).
No I don't have kids (childfreedom rulz!) but I seriously think if I did, I wouldn't put my precious little faces out there where they don't have to be.

I'm also hoping that maybe the thumbdown will help SU find other sites for me to stumble. Sorry mommies--I'm sure you're heart is in a place and there are some really pretty mommy blogs out there, I'm just tired of stumbling on them allllll the time.

ps......I also hate google adsense, but that's a whole 'nother rant.

still worried about the locusts

Sunday, June 01, 2008

Cicadas do not bite or sting, are benign to humans, and are not considered a pest.
Many people around the world regularly eat cicadas: the female is
prized as it is meatier. Cicadas have been (or are still) eaten in Ancient Greece, China, Malaysia, Burma, Latin America and the Congo.

Yeah ... this just grosses me out. I'm still hoping that I don't even really see too much of the coming of the locusts. I don't care whether they are supposedly "benign to humans" or not. Every time I go out in my backyard, I'm watching the ground and looking around for them. I would probably lose it if one got in my hair or on me...... ackkkkkkk!

Horoscope for Sunday

Cutting back on your shopping list of 'must haves' is never a fun thing to do -- it doesn't feel good to deprive yourself of things your really want! But you do need to restrict yourself, right now. The more indulgent you are now, the more you will regret it later. Something that could change your life is coming soon, but you will need some cash in order to get in on it. You don't want to miss out on this big opportunity, so save up, so that you can be ready.

Wellllll --that bout scares me. Boo hoo anyways, I have been spending too much money here lately and need to get back to my frugal self.

**commercial break--I think those commercials for the Nintendo iplayforme are dumb as hell. Bet Britney Spears has one.

I was having a discussion about winning the lottery the other day---I would probably just piss ppl off. I don't know if I would move to another house--probably just stay here and remodel (big kitchen dreams) and obviously buy a certain house and let it stay empty. It would make the neighborhood a better place. And I'd still have to have at least a part-time job, but Gawd just think of the computer crap I could buy!!!!!

lost $200

Sunday, April 27, 2008

Went to Walmart this morning for my monthly giving all my money away to the real "Uncle Sam". Yeah Walmart runs this country. I tried to boycott it several years ago, but due to my favorite grocery store closing and the other local store sucking (dirty and limp, rotten produce) I have been forced to shop there. I had thoughts of driving to another store out of the area but gas prices have shut that idea down many moons ago. It's hard to pay for gas just to get to work nowadays.
Anyhoo the monthly mugging was worse than usual this morning. I broke down and bought a couple pairs of shorts and a pair of Lee jeans. And with the usual >$100 in food I was just a little wilted dandelion by the time I got out to the car. Damn Walmart!
So to keep on with my bitch fest: I was upset that there were so many employees stocking shelves - everywhere! It's hard to look, ponder and put stuff in your buggy if you can't get to it. And even worse when the employees are acting like it's you that is in the way. Damn Walmart!
I always go on Sunday mornings before church lets out but I guess I was taking too long or maybe too many other people have my idea because it got crowded too quick. I like being able to ponder what I'm buying without interruption and also not run into people I know (then it really does take too much time). Well, at least I do have the sense not to go at the first of the month.
Damn Walmart!

POPE posting

Sunday, April 20, 2008

The Pope just pisses me off on several different levels. The main one today is that he is taking over the damn channels. He's on the channel where a movie I wanted to watch was scheduled. Damn.
For a brief moment I am worrying about saying damn in a post about the Pope (why am I capitalizing it?). Then I started to kind of get cracked up about "pope posting". Then that thought lead to thinking about how things and people have immunity at the vatican (no capitals-haha).

You know-- what happens at the vatican, stays at the vatican.

Sounds like a party. Then of course, a real question..... how come Michael Jackson just doesn't go stay at the vatican??! He'd be safe from all that legal crap.

I get a perverse pleasure from passing cars that have the #3 on them.
