Dara Torres Swimming Fast to the Olympics

Watched Olympic tryouts last nite for a bit on the telly. Totally impressed and new fan of Dara Torres, the 41 year old who made a bid and is likely to make it to the Olympics. This is her 5th time going to the Olympics with her first time being in 1984 when she won her first medal.
Last nite was made even sweeter with her time being a personal best. I was cheering her on, especially since I'm a forty-something myself. Her team in the bleachers included her husband, mother and Tessa, her two year old daughter with a sucker in her mouth. After the competition, when asked if Tessa understood what was going on, Dara replied, "She just wanted to see mommy swim". Swim, Dara, swim!!!

Yikers--frogs everywhere

Frog Migration: Omen to China Earthquake Disaster

On May 5th there were frogs everywhere in China and then on May 12th a 7.8 magnitude earthquake hit. Many Chinese thought the frogs were a bad omen when they saw them.

Good grief! Frogs hopping madly everywhere would freak me out. I am already terrified about locust time being here. So far I haven't seen any except for the dry skins they crawl out of--icky! I can't wait until it's over and they go away again for their big sleep!!!!

POPE posting

The Pope just pisses me off on several different levels. The main one today is that he is taking over the damn channels. He's on the channel where a movie I wanted to watch was scheduled. Damn.
For a brief moment I am worrying about saying damn in a post about the Pope (why am I capitalizing it?). Then I started to kind of get cracked up about "pope posting". Then that thought lead to thinking about how things and people have immunity at the vatican (no capitals-haha).

You know-- what happens at the vatican, stays at the vatican.

Sounds like a party. Then of course, a real question..... how come Michael Jackson just doesn't go stay at the vatican??! He'd be safe from all that legal crap.

Cotton Candy Cocaine

U.S.Federal drug agents say candy-flavored cocaine is a new and troubling development and are hoping to keep it from spreading to the rest of the country after its recent emergence in California.Drug rings have occasionally sold cocaine mixed with candy powder, but investigators said the new product was significantly more sophisticated and lucrative. Cocaine cut with an added flavoring is less potent, but the 1½ pounds seized last month were a full-strength powder into which strawberry, coconut, lemon and cinnamon flavoring had been chemically synthesized.
The flavored cocaine would command $1,100 to $1,400 an ounce on the street, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration said after DEA agents and state investigators seized the flavored drugs at two homes in Modesto, Calif. Regular powder cocaine, by comparison, fetches $600 to $700 an ounce, the agency said.
I read this story @ MSNC The accompanying pic looked like what I would expect the sugar to make cotton candy to look like. And I love cotton candy. But have never done drugs. If I have that reaction, I can imagine how easy it would be to get a young naive kid to "just try it". Smart marketing for the drug dealers--bad for anyone who is in the position of being around it. Including the DEA dudes.
But seeing the sick reality of it, I can just imagine some uppity shallow chick making her new boyfriend pay high dollar for the flavored coke. I predict it to happen in a movie
